NCCCD
National Community Consultation for Caste Discrimination — a national advocacy campaign by AIM Australia to have caste discrimination recognised as a form of intersectional racial discrimination in Australian law.
What is the NCCCD?
The National Community Consultation for Caste Discrimination (NCCCD) is an advocacy campaign led by Ambedkar International Mission (AIM) Australia in partnership with Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha Sydney (SGRS) to have caste-based discrimination formally recognised as a ground of racial discrimination in Australian law.
The campaign brings together lived experiences of caste-affected communities, empirical research, and engagement with Australian and international human-rights institutions.
Headline Outcome
Australia's National Anti-Racism Framework (NARF) now formally recognises caste-based discrimination as a form of intersectional racial discrimination. Recommendation 17 calls upon the Australian Government to investigate legal protections against caste discrimination — including potential reform of existing legislation.
This is the first time a standalone recommendation on prohibiting caste discrimination has appeared in an Australian anti-racism framework — a milestone delivered after six months of focused advocacy by SGRS and AIM Australia.
